Marine Salvatore J. Tartaro, the founding father of Tri-Cities TN Detachment 969 and Commandant from April 1997 through March 2001 answered the Final Roll Call on May 22, 2008. Sal was a Iwo Jima veteran and served in the U. S. Marine Corps from 1942 to 1951. He joined the Marine Corps League in New York in January 1993 and became a Life Member in January 1994. Sal resided in Talbott, TN since 2001.
